During a Q&A with the press at the Sinan Erdem Gymnasium, Turkoglu said that Turkey’s success will go hand in hand with fan support during the championship taking place from the 31st of August to the 17th of September.

“Sarica mentioned that the national team will be one that will make the nation proud and worthy of an ovation. The Turkish people have never left us alone in events we host. We have always been a team that performs differently in front of the home crowd. Our people’s support will bring great success,” said Hidayet Turkoglu after his multiple meetings with Head Coach Ufuk Sarica.

“Our opponents are known as traditionally successful basketball countries. They have experienced coaches and experienced players. It will not be easy but what is important is how we perform on the court,” commented Hidayet Turkoglu on Turkey’s group stage opponents.

Speaking about future national team plans, Hidayet Turkoglu had this to say: “We believe it’s necessary to give a chance to the younger prospects. Coach Sarica picked his team according to this. These players are going to be wearing these jerseys for years. It is important for them to gain experience and they will take what they can from it.”

Hidayet Turkoglu also made remarks about Cedi Osman and Furkan Korkmaz, who recently went to the NBA, “As an athlete and as a player who has been there for years, I am very proud of them. The fact they went there are a young age made me happy. We will still keep in contact while they are there. They will represent our country in the best league in the world in the best way they can.”
