Stars of Anadolu Efes Share Joy of Club’s 10th Turkish Cup on Twitter

With a 60-70 win over Fenerbahçe Ülker last night Anadolu Efes hoisted the Royal Halı Turkish Cup.

Last night in front of a sold-out crowd of more than 6,000 fans at Şahinbey Sports Hall in Gaziantep, Anadolu Efes defeated Fenerbahçe Ülker 60-70 to win the Royal Halı Turkish Cup for a record tenth time. It was the club’s first Turkish Cup triumph since the 2008-2009 season.

The win over Fenerbahçe Ülker came on the heels of a 79-73 quarterfinal victory over Galatasaray Liv Hospital and a 73-88 semifinal defeat of Darüşşafaka Doğuş. The stars of Anadolu Efes took to Twitter to share the sweet taste of victory with their fans across Turkey and around the world.

Anadolu Efes guard Thomas Heurtel was named Man of the Match in the finals after finishing with 12 points and 6 assists. That performance followed a 7-assist show in the semifinals. After hoisting the Turkish Cup the French star was already setting his sights on more success.

Big man Nenad Krstic entered the season on the heels of a silver medal performance at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. After recovering from a midseason injury he was in good form this week. His 13 points and 12 rebounds in the final were critical to the Anadolu Efes win. He let his Serbian fans know that this is “Just the beginning!”

It was an especially meaningful tournament for guard Birkan Batuk. Batuk ruptured his Achilles tendon while preparing for the FIBA Basketball World Cup with the 12 Giant Men last summer, and couldn’t be happier to be back on the floor. He thanked his team for making his return to the court “unforgettable.”

Furkan Korkmaz’s breakthrough season continues. After being named to his first Turkish Basketball League All-Star last month, the 17 year old hoisted his first Turkish Cup last night.

Big man Stephane Lasme finished with 8 points and 3 boards in the final, and celebrated his third cup in as many years.

Sharpshooter Matt Janning kept his message for fans short and sweet.

Anadolu Efes and the TBL’s other 15 teams return to action this weekend for Week 20 of the regular season.
